Glenn Beck‘s show last night took a bizarre turn. With language straight from the red-scare tactics of the 50s, the host warned that “collectivism” is taking over the United States and America needs to be rescued — then he threw himself on the floor to provide medical aid with an American flag.
“The collective mentality is taking over,” Beck said. “Forget the individual; what’s best for the collective? That’s the problem.”
“America is hemorrhaging. And some of us have seen the hemorrhaging,” he said as he knelt to the floor. “And we grab a coat or a blanket and we’re down on, and we’re on the ground, and what do you do? Every time you push something onto the wound to stop the bleeding.” Beck then pretended to be applying pressure to a bloody wound with the help of an American flag.
“[America] is down on the ground right now, she’s gurgling, we’ve got our hand on the wound,” he said. Beck then began to plead with the floor. “Stay with me. Talk to me. Don’t close your eyes; don’t go to sleep. Wake up! Stay with me!”
Probably even more alarming than his flag resuscitation, Beck then pleaded with his viewers to take their children out of public school “indoctrination camps” where they are being taught that “the collective is greater than the individual.”
“America certainly is dead. Which means I’ve lost faith in my government, I’ve lost faith in the media, in banking, the justice system, some of our big city police departments,” he said, seeming to tear up. “I think I just didn’t have faith in the DMV 15 years ago. Now I question everything. I don’t have faith in any of it.”
