This Saturday morning, outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid took aim at FBI Director James Comey, saying he should resign immediately for withholding information from the American public that the Russians had meddled in the 2016 U.S. election.
Calling into Joy Reid‘s MSNBC show, the Nevada Democrat referred to Comey as the “new J. Edgar Hoover” and directly accused him of sitting on information regarding Russia’s actions.
“This is not fake news. Intelligence officials are hiding connections to the Russian government. There is no question,” Reid said. “Comey knew and deliberately kept this info a secret.”
Reid went on to call for investigations into Comey’s role in the alleged coverup.
“I think he should be investigated by the Senate. I think he should be investigated by other agencies in the government, including the security agencies,” Reid said, before bluntly adding, “If ever there was a matter of national security, it is this.”
