High school teacher put on leave after student records her giving sexual anatomy lesson

A teacher at a California high school was put on leave after she was recorded by a student discussing sexual anatomy and sexual pleasure techniques, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Judy Rehburg, who taught physiology and AP Environmental Science at El Dorado High School in Placentia, discussed prostate stimulation, anal penetration and sex toys while showing images of male and female anatomical diagrams to students.

“That’s why, for male and male, anal sex is still very pleasurable,” Rehburg said in the video, later talking about the availability of sex toys at stores such as Target and CVS.

After the now-deleted video was posted to Instagram, parents filed complaints against the district, which resulted in Rehburg being placed on leave.

“District employees are trusted to exercise professional judgment when deciding whether or not a particular issue is suitable for study or discussion,” Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District communications director Alyssa Griffiths said in a statement. “In the classroom, employees act on behalf of the district and are expected to follow the adopted curriculum, and they should not advocate personal opinions or viewpoints.”

Some students voiced their support for Rehburg, creating an Instagram account titled, “@FreeJudy” claiming the video was taken out of context and the teacher only discussed the subject after being asked by a student.

“Judy is an admired and well respected educator. if you’re not comfortable with your kid participating in this class and learning about sexual health in a safe environment, then don’t put them in the class. simple as that,” a commenter wrote on a post that shared a copy of the video. “but with technology these days kids have unlimited access to ANYTHING right at the palm of their hands. she should sue this kid for recording her without her knowledge. obviously no one taught this kid respect.”

“Speaking as a parent to a current senior at ELDO, I love that she did this!” wrote another. “She is answering questions openly and honestly. These young adults are so lucky to have a SAFE place to ask and learn about their bodies and their natural urges from a SAFE person.”
