On the set of NBC’s “Today” show back in January of 1994, the hosts were a little confused regarding the Internet and the @-sign that appears in web addresses.
The footage took place between segments and was not originally aired. It shows Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric struggling to understand how to interpret a web address that was to show up on a graphic during the show.
Obviously, most us who are old enough to remember would have shown the same befuddlement at the time, considering that the popularity of the Internet was in its infancy, but it’s still amusing to see how drastically times have changed in 20 years.
