Parent volunteer at Christian school charged with raping 16-year-old student

A Missouri Christian school is speaking publicly after a volunteer who worked at the school was charged with raping a 16-year-old student, KRCG reported.

Jennifer Cecil, 41, of Jefferson City, with first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree statutory rape, second-degree statutory sodomy, and sexual contact with a student.

“Lighthouse Preparatory Academy is a faith-based University Model School and we are committed to the safety and well-being of our students at all times,” a statement from the school reads.

“The school was notified of misconduct allegations concerning a parent volunteer. Due to the nature of the allegations, school officials and proper outside authorities were notified, and Lighthouse immediately launched an internal investigation. We will cooperate fully with any forthcoming investigation as school policies and procedures are being reviewed. Due to the continued investigation, Lighthouse officials will not be providing further comment at this time,” the statement continued. “We are praying for the families involved in this situation.”
