Woman commits suicide just days after delivering twins

A dancer, mother of three, and wife of a Massachusetts police officer took her own life just after giving birth to twins, USA Today reported.

Ariana Sutton, 36, committed suicide on May 31, and now her family is trying to raise awareness about postpartum depression.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of Ariana Sutton, a loving mother who tragically took her own life only days after delivering newborn twins,” reads the GoFundMe launched by her family. “The weight of this tragedy is unimaginable, but together, we can offer our love, strength and financial assistance to help this family through their challenging journey.”

Sutton leaves behind 4-year-old Melody Ki, newborn twins Everly Irene and Rowan Stephen Sutton, and husband Stephen “Tyler” Sutton, who is an Easton police officer.

Her twins, born a month early, are in the neonatal intensive care unit where they are likely to remain until the end of the month.

Her sister-in-law, Catherine Sutton, said the family wants to make sure mothers don’t feel shame for making sure their mental health is taken care of.

“It’s so important that you ask for help,” she said. “If another family’s able to avoid what we’re going through right now, it’s worth it to share our story.”
