Bill Maher on Trump voters: ‘If he had Anne Frank’s skeleton in his closet, they’d still vote for him’

On this Friday’s edition of Real Time, host Bill Maher told viewers that rational debate with Trump’s most vocal supporters is a lost cause. According to Maher, facts don’t matter to the Trump camp, who “aren’t changing their minds because the problem isn’t in the mind, it’s lower, it’s emotional.”

He could have Anne Frank’s skeleton in his closet. They’d all vote for him again,” Maher said, referring to Trump supporters.

Maher also suggested the wave that swept Trump into office was powered by people who are afraid of becoming the minority.

“This is why building that stupid wall is still a key issue for them: It represents keeping out not just immigrants but everything that is new and different and scary and unfamiliar.”
