FBI arrests Capitol stormer who sprayed cops in the face with mace

A Kentucky man who was caught on video macing police officers during the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 has been arrested by the FBI, BuzzFeed News reports.

Peter Schwartz, 47, was arrested on Thursday and faces numerous charges, including forcibly assaulting an officer. Court papers say that Schwartz was part of a mob that swarmed officers outside the entrance to the Capitol while striking and spraying them with chemical substances.

A video posted to YouTube shows Schwartz hoisting a canister of mace, which he then points in the direction of officers and begins to spray them.

Later in the video he appears to mace officers a second time.

“All the violence from the left was terrorism,” he allegedly posted on Facebook the following day. “What happened yesterday was the opening of a war. I was there and whether people will acknowledge it or not we are now at war. It would be wise to be ready!”
